Project 3 - Anticipation

Our third project was a small one. We were re-introduced to the 12 Principles of animation that Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas adapted from the work of Disney animators in the 1930s. One of these principles is 'Anticipation'. It often acts as a counter-movement to prepare for an action - such as moving back before running forward. Our task was to do just that, to create a character and to animate the Anticipation before said character zooms off the screen in a typical cloud of dust.

Unfortunately I ended up drawing my character too close to the edge of the paper, which left me very little room to maneuver. This resulted in my anticipation being barely noticeable, detracting from the final result. The initial idea was for my character to pull their body back before catapulting their self forward. However the last animation seems to show the character simply jumping into the zoom, which is not the desired effect.

I am likely to reattempt this animation at a later date as it is not very time consuming and good practice. I am certain the shown video does not demonstrate my full ability and I would like to rectify that.
